Secret Women’s Business (SWB) Barra Challenge

Organised by the Palmerston Game Fishing Club, the Secret Women’s Business Barra Challenge is a fishing competition held on Corroboree Billabong each year for female only competitors.

Some other women only fishing comps allow a male skipper to be on board the vessel. But not the SWB Barra Challenge.

I was invited by the Palmerston Game Fishing Club to come aboard one of the Marshal boats of the competition. It was a boat that I’m familiar with. Azza from Fishing Team Joker was the Marshal Boat along with Marco from the Fishing Club as well. If you’ve seen more of my videos, you’ve probably seen me out fishing with Azza and Fishing Team Joker Before.

It’s a very distinctive boat and a fair amount bigger than my boat Flanders, so it gave me the chance to bring several cameras to get some good footage of the fishing comp. I’m also able to take off and land my drone on the front deck easily.

The girls in the fishing comp had an absolute blast. Plenty of beers flowing, but they also take their fishing very seriously too.

Scoring fishing are Barra and Saratoga, with the Toga being worth half the points of Barra.

The fishing wasn’t amazing, but plenty of fish were caught and released in the comp. On the Marshal boat we had plenty of time to do some fishing of our own, which was both exciting and frustrating. Lots of action, but very difficult getting fish into the boat.
