The Gulf Redux Part 1 – Goldies Before Coldies

In part 1 of this new series from the Gulf of Carpentaria, I drive 1,000km from my home in Darwin down to King Ash Bay Fishing Club on the McArthur River. Once you are on the Stuart Highway there is literally only TWO TURNS to get there! Left onto the Carpentaria Highway (for about 400km), and then right onto Batten Road for the last 20km of dirt road into King Ash Bay.

After arriving I catch up with some mates before heading down to the Groper’s Grill at King Ash Bay.

The following day we head out on Ash’s big boat Five O’Clock Somewhere for some reef fishing around the Pellew Islands. The conditions are rough and windy, but we still manage to catch plenty of fish.
